From Waiting on Weekly Lessons to Discovering What Real Lasting Development Actually Is | Tegan Rattner’s KVS Mentorship Journey

When it comes to developing a pitcher, true growth doesn't happen from one lesson a week. It happens through consistency, intentional training, having a PLAN, accountability, and having the right support system in place throughout the journey.
That is exactly why I created the KVS Mentorship Program.
Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with one of my current Hybrid KVS Mentorship athletes, Tegan Rattner (class of 2029), and her dad, Steve Rattner, to talk about their experience inside the program and the impact personalized coaching has had on Tegan's pitching journey. This is her third time back in the program.

Tegan has been training with me through my Hybrid KVS Mentorship Program, which combines in-person coaching with personalized remote training, video feedback, customized programming, and ongoing communication. Her journey is a perfect example of what happens when an athlete has a clear plan, the right guidance, and the ability to continue progressing regardless of life's scheduling challenges.
But one of the things I love most about the KVS Mentorship Program is that this type of development is not limited by location.
For my local pitchers, the Hybrid Mentorship Program provides the opportunity to combine in-person training with the flexibility and accountability of remote coaching.
However, I also work with pitchers who live hours away—even athletes on the other side of the world—who train with me as fully 1:1 remote clients. No matter where an athlete lives, the goal remains the same: providing personalized coaching, consistent feedback, and a proven development plan to help each pitcher continue moving forward.
Finding a Better Way to Develop
Before joining the KVS Mentorship Program, Tegan and her family found themselves facing a challenge many softball families experience—trying to build consistency around a traditional weekly pitching lesson schedule.
While weekly lessons can be valuable, the reality is that life happens. Coaches run out of availability by having to trade time for money. Schedules change, conflicts come up, and sometimes athletes are left waiting until their next lesson to continue making adjustments and improvements.
For Tegan and her parents, they were looking for something different.
They wanted a training experience that allowed Tegan to continue developing, receiving feedback, and staying connected to her coach without her progress being limited by scheduling conflicts.
That is the beauty of hybrid and remote training.
Your daughter's development should not stop because of a busy schedule. With the KVS Mentorship Program, athletes have a personalized plan and continued support so they can keep improving, building confidence, and working toward their goals throughout their entire journey.
The Biggest Breakthrough: Trusting the Process
One of the biggest transformations in Tegan's journey has been learning to focus on the process instead of chasing immediate results.
As pitchers, it is easy to get caught up in outcomes:
How fast is my pitch?
Am I throwing strikes?
Did I have a good game?
Did I get the result I wanted?
But the pitchers who continue to grow learn that results are created by committing to the process.
Tegan has experienced a breakthrough because she has learned how to align herself with what she is capable of doing. She has developed a deeper understanding of her mechanics, her training, and the importance of trusting the work she puts in every day.
That mindset shift is where confidence is built.
Why Hybrid & Remote Training Works
The KVS Mentorship Program was created with nearly 30 years of coaching experience by me, Coach Kally V to make sure to provide pitchers with a complete development experience at any point in their journey.
Whether an athlete trains with me through the Hybrid Program or completely remotely, the mission remains the same:
✅ Build strong pitching foundations✅ Develop efficient mechanics✅ Create confidence in the circle✅ Provide accountability and support✅ Give athletes a clear path forward
This program has been one of the most rewarding coaching experiences of my career because it allows me to coach athletes beyond a one-hour in person lesson, once a week. I get to be involved in the entire process—the adjustments, the challenges, the breakthroughs, and the growth...the Ebbs and Flows...the Highs and the Lows.

Thank you, Tegan and Steve, for trusting me to be part of this journey. It has been incredible watching Teagan grow not only as a pitcher, but as a confident athlete who understands the importance of trusting the process.
Remember: Progress doesn't happen overnight. It happens one pitch, one practice, and one decision at a time.
